The first steps of this project took place at a the base of a finnish radio channel called Basso in the summer of 2010. It was this underground rap program called Ghetto Styles, hosted by the infamous Moonlit, Ameba, Iwere & Khid/Kridlokk, where we first met with Ekow(formerly known as the mc of the duo "The Megaphone State").
I was doin' some lousy freestyle in finnish when I saw this guy called Ekow rappin' - "shiiiieeeet!" A finnish dj, production pioneer and a good friend of mine - a guy called Neveready - saw this too and what came to his mind about it was clear as day: "you got beats, he can ehrr... STEADILY rhyme, to describe his talent a bit, so what to do - make music together!"
A short while later we made a beat together with Neveready which ended up after vocalling for the opening song of the "Escalate" ep. The track is called Dust - a smooth and cozy track with a bit of temper in it.
On that same session in summer 2010 when Ekow came over to my place to do the vocals for the Dust-beat I played some other beats for him I had earlier made. This time it came from his mouth how we should proceed with the music: "let's do an EP." The last song of the project was recorded in the beginning of 2011 at Stereotype studios.
The eibou&e project was a strictly grass roots zero budget typa thing. After a long process here it finally is: "Escalate". I would describe the tracks as traditional hip hop with a twist some what typical for finnish music. Now when I'm listening to this music I can say we definitely recorded something unique in finnish rap music history. It was an honor to produce an mc as nice as Ekow.
Yours truly,
Eibou
